Sign-up forms: re-enter e-mail! What do you do?

When filling out sign-up forms that require you to re-enter your e-mail address, you re-enter it in the other field or just copy/paste?

I think this kind of thing is useless. Share your opinion on this matter.

Thanks,
Scorphus.

I normally re-enter the password just to make sure I haven't made a stooopid mistake. The same applies for when you're asked to re-enter a chosen password on a registration form.

I don't think they are completely useless, but they are not 100% reliable either. If a user sees that they need to re-enter a bit of info then they will normally pay a bit more attention to what they are typing.... even if they do just copy and paste it.

I always retype the email address, unless I've copied it from a valid source beforehand!

devork: depends how long your email address is. The one i use for web-forms to handle spam is way long!

I've been watching people (including my friends) filling forms on my school's lab (we developed a survey about some of our intranet's new features last week). I saw many of them (above 70%) doing exactly as devork describes above.

maybe it just depends on intellect?

the ones who need to retype it are the ones who don't know what Ctrl+C, Tab, Ctrl+V means in the first place...

Maybe it just depends on if you're a lazy bone-idol git?
