hmm, does PHP have MVP awards like other languages?

I was reading an article on a developer my uncle has in his company that won the MVP award for TAPI (
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/031104/cltu020_1.html ), and was wondering if PHP did the same? IMO, they should

At least that would promote PHP and give GURU's a reason to give back to the community in forums such as some of them do here. I know plenty on these boards that should be nominated, but again I'm unsure if they even do anything like that. Just wondering

That's a cool idea indeed.

So I take it they don't offer these types of award eh? Dunno, it's not that I would be wanting to see them offer $100,000 to the MVP or something, but rather at least just a Certificate from them acknowledging this. That would be a very cool thing to be able to put on your resume

I think the words "Windows supported" in "Windows-supported Telephony Application Programming Interface" are crucial here.
MS would probably have been happy to strangle the profit-leaching open source movement at birth so I don't see them handing out any php gongs.
On the other hand, maybe we could nominate MS for a PHPDN award: "Crappest Major Software Supplier" maybe? Or "Best Attempt to Take Over the World by a Megalomaniac Nerd"?

I thought that microsoft wouldn't give it out when I first read it, but then again, why does microsoft have to give it out?

True, if MS had their way, the PHP MVP award would be an ASP brainwashing

.
Still, a great idea to have some sort of award. Perhaps an official phpdn helper cape. In red. With gold trim. And red underpants to be worn on the outside of the official blue spandex overalls.
Look! Up in the web!
It's a designer!
It's a coder!
It's... PHPman!
Faster than a speeding $_POST...able to leap tall SQL queries in a single bound...the geek of silicon fights for variables, dynamic pages, and properly structured code!

Maybe I'll go use ASP if M$ is giving out awards.
Not.

to me, php has been the most powerful language i've ever learned. and that's not just because of it's ease to learn, but because of how unlimited your project ideas can be with it. if you can think it up, you pretty much can do it....as long as you don't go so far as trying to make a mmorpg heh

At least someone laughed. Hmm... an mmorpg... I'd been wondering what to do as a project.
Maybe.
