Hehe, when I was in the same situation, I moved to Canada! Montreal to be precise. Now, granted, this had a lot to do with meeting Piera, but I am glad I did.

Canada is a great country. Indeed, Canada is #2, behind California, in tech companies. Everywhere I look in Montreal, their is another tech company. Hell, the other day, I was walking down time, and suddenly, bam, their was the UbiSoft building!

And the cost of living (at least in Montreal) is really low compared to the states.

And finally, getting a work visa for Canada is a rather simple process. If you are looking to get one, I have a good lawyer for you. Obviously, the same one I use. And yes, it's important you have a lawyer.

lol@qads.
Yah, that they are US companies MUST have something to do with it!

Seriously, if the 'original' site is ASP and your project is PHP, then I wonder why your clients are shutting it down. I'd take it to the court and laugh them in the face when the loose for not seeing the ASP vs. PHP issue, applausing when then pay the fee for the lawyers...

I think I might actually go along with that. For now, I finally got a nice little contract job for a Job Placement company in our small part of the world. Good thing is, they are already talking about publicising me doing their webdevelopment since I used to go there for unemployeement. 4 Sites, $1000 a piece, i'm happy for a few months at least :D (best part is, they are only after someone who can make a CMS for them, which is what I have been developing along with a log parsing app hehe ).

but overall, montreal is the place where I will move, when I move.

definately. and jason, i'll keep that in mind about your lawyer when i decide to come. i'm sure if he/she has satisfied your needs, I feel confident he/she could for me as well.

lol jam, sorry, didnt mean to sound like that :P.

i would love to take it to court, but my client doest have enough money to fight it out, i guess my client is shuting it down cos it DOES have a simple form which LOOKS like the sueing party's form (sueing over html?)...but since i made it i know its not a copy :?.

the worse thing is the sueing company said that they talked to me about it...and they have't 8O..makes me wonder what the hell they are up to.

EDIT/////
uh..cos i am not good when it comes to Law and stuff, would it matter if i/my client removes the section which is causeing all this problems? can they still sue?

@Draco_03,

Ahh yes, the women, tell me more ;) 8) :lol:.

@infolock,

You can always hunt Jason down in the Yellow Pages and live right on top of him. Heck, I don't see why a human can replace the PHP manual. :D

@qads,

I too, am not really clear about this but I think from my common sense and a load of guessing, if you remove the part they're sueing, they'd go for another part and sue again since they won't be really happy until you're shut down. Heh,

Maybe I watch too much moves 8O.

qads: I think the programming language (tools/devices) are irrelevant when it comes to patents, which is what I presume that company had for that particular thing.

As long as the idea is being copied, the patent owner can take legal action.

This reminds me of that whole web auction controversy of the late '90s. heh

infolock: Wise choice. Don't forget to pick up a french dictionary/travel guide before you go though. ;)

Remember, when someone mumbles some french to you, say this:

je nas pas de francais (jey nah pah dah fran-say)

He means this:

"Je ne parle pas francais."

It means "I don't speak french."

I think that might be regular french instead of french-canadian.

It's like city talk and country talk. there are just some little differences ;)

Actually, what you said almost would've been "I don't have french" - "Je n'ai pas de francais."

A large chunk of my family is from Quebec.
