Spamhaus

Post by jason »

Discovered IP addresses are blocked by Spamhaus for something I don't know anything about. These are my servers, and I am on these IP addresses. And everyone here knows I wouldn't spam. Anyways, sent them an email. Let's see how this goes.

down with the spammer!

no seriously though, M$ created a new feature in hotmail that lets you report junk mail spam to them, so it's very likely that someone could have accidently clicked on it and sent that in as a report, which got processed.

i had to make double sure myself the first time using this new system.

No, I know for a fact that it wasn't me. Mostly because the spamhaus link told me:

Remote host said: 554 Service unavailable; Client host [217.116.248.97] blocked using sbl.spamhaus.org; http://www.spamhaus.org/SBL/sbl.lasso?query=SBL6024
Giving up on 216.221.81.26.

So anyways, I will keep you guys updated.

BTW, want to buy some <span style='color:red;text-decoration:blink' title='Alert a moderator!'>grilled spam</span>?

Wow I was reading up on some of the spammers, and boy, I've never seen such a pathetic bunch.

Check out the Cartoonies...they're good for a laugh.

hmm.. not saying i could do it, as i have no experience in email handling programs, but couldnt you block emails with ADV: in the beggining? and instead of sending back "sorry this user does not accept spam", send "Sorry the user does not exist" so the spammers don't get mad and try to sue you :P

I HATE SPAM!!

and the RIAA!!!

About seeling <span style='color:red;text-decoration:blink' title='Alert a moderator!'>grilled spam</span>? Heck no! =p

But am I serious about Spamhaus blocking my companies mail, yeah! In a way I understand, but it ticks me off. I work very hard to make sure none of my partners or people working for us do anything I would consider spam, and that's a lot. So it's sort of ironic that we don't spam, and the only mail that is bouncing is mail people are sending in for support, or receipts for payments people have made.

Well, we will see what Spamhaus does.

Hopefully they won't post your request in the cartoonies, and label you a threat to the "spam-free tomorrow." :)
