I did. My point was that there are posters with avatars saying "As seen in Porn", and signatures with 'colorful' text like:
Linux is like a wigwam. No Windows. No Gates. And an Apache inside.
Don't get me wrong, *I* am not offended by any of these.

Thats the reason I asked.. what exactly offends you about it? We have people with sig's that could be (completely and horribly misconstrued) to denote racial preferences, and avatars talking about porn!

What in the avatar expressing a (not-so-uncommon) personal opinion about a public persona did you find offensive? (and by extension, why didn't you take offense at the others, or did you?).

The thread is about Straterra's avatar, not other people's signatures or avatars. It's just offensive ...he asked, I answered yes.

this thread is like... hanging fruit

I just changed my avatar to an animated one.
You can get away with saying almost anything if
it is done tastefully.. skip the bright flashy blinding
colors imho

My avatar has some hidden messages

Code: Select all

=> no new taxes
=> not all cow is madcow
=> banana tariffs are all about the monkey
=> WAR = economic recovery
=> I hate broccoli
=> Bush will win re-election just because
=> I am free now - get the hell out!
:wink:

Is it offensive to you? Do feel it offensive to everyone? Or offensive to Bush?

Forget the 3rd question. It IS offensive to Bush.

So do you just feel this kind of opinion can not be expressed?

There is nothing PC about the issue. Pyrite is expressing his opinion - which he only did after Sterrata requested he do so.

He is entitled to that opinion, and doesnt have to explain it. S asked for people's opinions, and Pyrite answered.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for spirited debate and conversation, but if Pyrite doesnt want to get involved in that, that is his right entirely.

S asked, Pyrite answered. End of story.

That is correct.

I asked for more details. And the question can remain unanswered!
I will never force someone to give his reasons.

So as you say mabe "end of story".

I'm just an American, I support my country (entirely), including my troops (especially), and Bush does count as one of my troops as the commander and chief. I am simply, offended by any "american bashing." That's more than I wanted to say to begin with ...
