Windows Installation

Post by oromedalla »

I'm on Win 98SE. After a complete manual installation I get a 403 error when trying to accessa .php page. Specifically the error is "403.1 Forbidden: Execute Access Forbidden". I've reloaded, reboot and triple checked that the directory has read, execute and scripts enabled yet the error persists. Any insight :?:

What server do you use? I recommend apache, it works fine on my machine. Post some of your configs and it might be easier to help you out.

Have you read and followed exactly the instructions for installation as set out in the manual?

I guess I should have mentioned as well that I'm using PWS 4.0. I have followed the installation instructions in the manual very precisely, and will do so one more time.

Apache

Apache is safe, free, easy to install and works fine on my computer. Give it a try, it might be easier than PWS.

Lots of people seem to have problems with PWS, Apache might be a better (and less frustrating) solution.
