PhP Books?

I'm new to PhP but have been aware of it for awhile now.

Unlike many of the people in this forum who literally grew up with computers, I didn't even touch a computer until I was around 34 or so (Just turned 39). Programming wasn't even a consideration back then, lol, right clicking and surfing the web at that time was a big deal.

I basically learned PC related hardware (IBM clones and servers) like the back of my hand and slowly became interested in web authoring.

Now that I have a firm grasp on proper markup for xHTML, I would like some opinions and/or recommendations for a very good book on PhP. I'm talking from the ground up, thorough, descriptive terminologies, and complete book for the novice PhP person like myself.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanx a bunch,

I looked into the book and it seems to be what I was looking for. The nice thing it has a companion book for MySQL.

@ $59.44 seems to be reasonably priced :)

After picking my brain with PhP and MySQL, will come building a Linux machine. I'm thinking SuSe or something similar. Not sure yet, but I am really getting tired of Microsoft.

It's not to say XP is totally bad, actually it's really nice. But for what I am getting into, it makes more sense to go Linux at this juncture.

Some of the downs to Windows are this:

I have a Linksys BEFSR41 V3 (pass worded to the hill) Router/Firewall with an 800mhz XP box, a 1ghz XP laptop, and a 600mhz win2000 machine. All of which have AVG 7 anti-virus http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php, Spyblaster adware stopper http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html, and Spybot Search & Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/, , all machine use Mozilla FireFox 0.8 for web browsing, and still, somehow a trojan horse managed to get on the 2000 machine. AVG 7 cleared it up with no problems, but still. It takes all this crap to keep a windows machine guarded from viruses. This is just ridiculous if you ask me.

Open source is so much nicer to work with once you become accustomed to all it has to offer.

Linux has alot of wholes too, but the reason there are few virus's and the such out for it, is because most people use Win32 OS's...
