Speedy Transfers with Ultra Wide Band

Everybody else might know about it, but I find this very interesting, so I thought I'd add it... =)

Never heard of this before I read it in a local .se computer mag (cant find a reference in an english paper to link to). Apparently, it have speeds up to 1GB/s (!). Have in mind that we are talking wireless transfers... For me this is interesting. Why?
Sony, Samsung, Sharp, JVC, Pioneer and NEC are just a few companies that are trying to add this technique into their future hardware solutions (DVD's, Recordable HDD's (in HiFi use), VideoRec's, TV's and so on) as well as it is a way to replace the means to transfer data between printers, scanners and all other devices we are using today with USB, firewire and/or bluetooth.
Cables to and from my computer I can live with, but as the geek I am ;) I have alot of big HiFi equipment and not to mention, alot of cables connecting it all... Doesn't look good at all. Sounds interesting to be able to skip all these cables for once, and let the wireless transfers start...

Sidenotes and more interesting info (?):
It's still in the development, not accepted 100% by the FCC.
Speed is in theory faster, but due to the error-checking it's record are 1Gb/s.
Line-of-sight transfers not needed as it passes through walls (might need boosters on the way though).
Police/Military is using this to "see through walls" as it can reflect whats behind the other side of them. (Superman X-ray vision...)
