How do you setup an IRC channel?

I just wanted to know how to setup an IRC channel, if anyone knows please post here.

get an IRC client
connect to a server
go into a room that doesnt have people or bots in it
you're now the owner/op

just because you're the only person in it doesn't mean you're the owner of it. Plus I'm talking about having full abilities (to set passwords and all that)

umm.. if you are the only person in it, you get ops.. and "full abilities"..

In most popular servers, if a room is empty and no bots are there, the channel might still be registered. Try registering it and see what happens.
Type:
/help for commands and steps to get a channel registered.

You will need to setup a server. If your a Windows user use bIRCd or if your a Linux user user IRCd. These are what you use for others to connect to you via there chat client on port 6667. Setting one up is very easy. Just make sure you remember to edit the configuration files.

um, I think you're better off registering a channel on an existing major server.
Running your own server would be way to complex of a mission for you I think. But if you're but for it, go for it.
