counter-strike : condition zero

i thought i'd stop writing about PHP for a minute..........
well, i finally purchased the game the day it came out (last friday) and ive gotta say its gotta be the most disappointed i have ever been in a game
going back 2 years, i was introduced to CS at a friends house, i was mainly into redfaction, UT at the time, so it came as a refreshing change, little did i know that this would become an 18 month long addiction
counter-strike was always for me anyway, a game of skill and tactics after waiting for what seems like years of delays i wonder whether it was worth bothering.
CS:CZ is graphically very good, even though its running on a 6 year old engine, ok so it doesnt compare to far cry and UT 2004 but so what, half-life is still better than the aforementioned 2 games
ok, as we CS fans all know, CZ was haunted with delays, changes in development companies etc, and i now fully understand why the development changed hands so late in the day
undeleted scenes are what ritual designed i believe (could be gearbox) and it is quite possibly the worst game i have played in a long long time, it doesnt come close to the ingenuity and suspense of half-life and feels like a mod (most mods are actually better than this), i played through the first 2 levels of this mode and give up, it was that tiresome, actually i loaded a save game up once and it reset my machine
the new 'weapons / items' in it are absolutely useless as they can only be used at pre-designated intervals, the AI is absolutely horrendous and the game relates in no way whatsoever to counter-strike
now onto the newly designed game by turtle, this 'tour of duty' mode is indeed very very weird, its basically a "tony hawk's style" game where you must complete objectives to go onto the next mission and therefore unlock more skilled bots, a useful addition but doesnt get away from the fact that its a glorified free for all
the AI for the bots in the normal game, is extremely goof, unlike other bots (podbot, realbot) bots behave more humanly, there is actually now a point of walking around so they cant hear you, teams actually works as a team! and the radio command for the bots is a treat.
however i still would not recommend this game even if you love CS more than your mum, the new weather-effects and all new tectures are cool but they certainly arent worth £25 of my money
CS:CZ - 7/10
Deleted Scenes - 2/10
however there is one redeeming feature about this, you get a free half-life 2 disc which has 8-10 movies from HL2, this needs to be seen to be believed, without doubt this is gonna be the greatest game ever made
have you got CZ? what do you think?
