I care about the database load - my 'local' machine houses our intranet and may possibly end up housing our internet site too.

Without frames, each time I go to a different page in phpMyAdmin the database server is hit to get the names of all the db's and tables. This is not a download speed issue.

I never said it did - it was an example of how the functionality of frames can be a good thing. The only place I like to see frames is on the administration side of things. Personal web sites should not use them and they are slowly dieing a death there.

My Firebird browser is set up not to display flash unless you deliberately click on the item. Without meaning to comment on your own use of flash, I personally find it's very rarely worth the trouble and usually I'm straight out of there.
Flash-click-to-view, undoubtably one of the best things to happen to my web browsing experience in recent times :) . Being able to prevent animated gifs looping more than once is also luverly.

HEHE one thing about flash is.. ppl should use them "with caution"
all that wiggling animation is usually not nice just takes time to laod.. while using flash for a "subtile" effect like in a menu where you may have a cool " rollover"
nyways flash is great..
Me i like huge flash site based on design.... but i would never see that on an information site.. or a portal..
it s for experimental site or portfolio for instance..

Twiglemac
