Most editors do it all. Some have special features that suit the needs of a programmer of a particular editor. The specialized ones are okay for all types of code, but I'd look into a generalized one.

That's why I'd recommend Dreamweaver MX 2004. It has great built-in CSS support, as well as a very good PHP syntax highlighting, XHTML parsing, php manual help, FTP built-in, file browser built-in, etc, etc..

Check out UltraEdit at http://www.ultraedit.com/. Couple of advantages come to mind are: the editor covers wide range of lanuages such as HTML/XML/PHP, C, C++, etc; the editor has a "colomn mode", in which you can edit fields across many lines; the company owned and operated by one guy (I think) and he is very responsive and user friendly. The license cost $30, however it is one time deal, e.g., once you buy the license you will get all upgrades for free. I really like this editor.

Editplus - http://www.editplus.com - can be used to write any language you like (there's syntax highlighting for more than enough).

Kate on linux does a huge amount of languages (around 50) including all the ones you mentioned, it comes as standard on both my distros (RH9 and Mandrake 10)
