either is far far better than the old old 5.5 I have.. I just haven't gotten around to getting that upgraded as yet.. haven't really had a seriously pressing need, until recently..

my main machine for coding (i have 4 others)

Pentium 4 1.6ghz
512ddr Ram 333mhz
Geforce 3 (overclocked)
+1.5 terabyte raid configuration
Windows 2000 (server)
17" monitor

main software used when building sites:
Zend Development Studio
Dreamweaver MX
Flash MX
Fireworks MX (very very rare)
Photoshop 7
Paintshop Pro 7 (Anniversary edition)
PHP Expert Editor
TextPad (wahoo!!)
Kate (when on linux)

PHP version-> 4.2.2
Apache Version ->1.3.29
MySQL Version -> cant remember 4.1.?.? rings a bell

dont have a clue why i use this machine, its one of the lowest, it has all my software on and its just a matter of laziness to install it on other machines.

Duron 700

40gb HD
Wacom tablet (get one - trust me)
decent trinitron 17"

Unless you're into gaming, just about anything will do.
