I'm really starting to like
http://www.pandora.com - what a great idea.
Some of you probably know more about it than me (que Roja

), but I think they only get away with it (legally speaking) because you can't actually listen to any songs or bookmark certain songs.

Relaxing sounds, not any of those crapy lounge collections...
more like richie havens, rão kyao, traditional japanese music, churc choir music ( here in this last one i am very selective as most of the choirs are bad ) etc etc...
sometimes i get int some brasilian sounds... not to much bossa nova, not to much samba... like... Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, and so on and so on...
i love classic rock and blues... but... not for codding... i guess i could listen to some neil young, joan baez while coding... bob dylan for instance would be to much rock n roll for listen wile working.

I only used it a few times, but I think they are a pure-play: They pay for the license to broadcast, using ads.
I could be entirely mistaken however.

It's the same as any radio station. They get around the online stuff and being able to pick what song you listen to by not allowing you to listen to the same song more than a few times in some time interval so they can still classify themselves as a radio station but one that is very personalized. And yes they pay for their licence through ads or you can get a ad-free subscription for a little cash a month. It's all in their facts page.

Depends on my mood really... I listen to my iPod nearly 100% of my code time, and of that a good 80% is metal - Death, black, thrash, power, etc. Sometimes I'll listen to hip hop, sometimes a little classical, and sometimes I'll just shuffle every song (5800) and listen to what it throws at me. Hopefully mostly metal though :p
