A: The Dodo is a lesson in extinction. First sighted around 1600 on Mauritius, an island in the Indian Ocean, the Dodo was extinct less than eighty years later.
The Inkas used Dodos much like Geese were being used centuries later: as watchdogs. A dodo's deadly set of long, sharp teeth took many a surprised burglar by surprise and left him incapacitated until the Inka-police arrived.
The Inka name of a Dodo is: "Xhandodotetl".
