Children's Online Privacy Protection Act: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/coppa.htm

Just wondering if anyone runs a web site that does, or purposely doesn't comply with this US law.

Though I'm not a citizen of the US, my site is hosted in the US and I believe that means I must follow the regulations of the COPPA (or so I'm told).

Anyone have some insight into this?

BattleCorps complies with the laws, IIRC.. they are somewhat simple to follow.. basically, avoid asking for any age related materials, don't absolutely require email addresses, you can use other means of knowing it's them.. like with secret phrases and things.. and try to avoid "adult" content. :) that's roughly it for what we had to do.

I've found this site useful on getting a handle on it: http://www.jamesshuggins.com/h/bas1/coppa-cabana.htm

Just one more thing to think about before starting a new project.
