Anyone here run a dsl company or know much about running one?

i'm currently looking into starting one for a 100-300 user base and was wondering what the necessary equipment would be. i was thinking dual t1's to start with and then upgrading once i had enough income coming in. i also understand the necessary router/pc equipment, but what about lines and the like? I've also heard that starting your own CLEC (30k downpayment) is probably the best way to go as well. any comments are more than welcome.

Are you going to be able to make money on that? I live in a remote area or at least it used to be a year ago. Today comcast is offering 3Meg lines for $42. Our local phone company is selling DSL 256K for $14 and 1M for $50 / month. Depending on you area, you will still have to go through your local phone company for lines and they don't like it everytime you place an order if they are currently offering DSL.

I used to sell DSL but I stoped about a year ago. It was impossible to offer competitive prices.

Also technical support! MASSIVE. Are you going to offer SMTP relay? Emails?

well, as far as going through the local fone company, that's why i would invest into a CLEC, meaning I become the phone company.. SMPT, POP3, HTTP, Telnet, and hosting will be offered. tech support is definately a key issue, but i'm mainly just gathering information on the cost to startup first. i live in an area where dsl is not offered, so i plan on making money with this project. the only thing they offer is cable (90k/sec lines for 50$ a month, a big rip-off scam).
