Nonsense with M$ Internet Explorer

A client called the other day because a web application was misbehaving: a php script was pulling the wrong email out of the database when she pulled up one particular record record. I walked through it with her over the phone, clicking on the same buttons on the same screen as she was doing, and I got the right email address at the same time that she got the wrong one.

She was using IE, I was using Firefox. Hmmm, that's a clue. We got a third person in on the party, using IE, and she got the right email address.

I had the client with the problem clear out her Internet History and her Internet Temp Files. Problem solved.

Use Firefox.
:D

Unfortunately since most people still browse with IE it's still important to test sites on it :( .

use how? I use it for testing, and certain things I want to do only work the way I want in IE (like jumping through huge lists of links) .. so I use it regularly... but it's not my main browser anymore... as noted by the goofy-ish appearance of the newer

Code: Select all

tags we have.

although I'll eventually care enough to fix it

IE is still the browser I use a majority of the time. This is not necessarily because IE has better features, it's more that i'm so used to the interface. I've been using IE my entire life. We have a relationship :P

Although one feature of firefox that is probably going to for-sure make me switch completely to it is tabbed browsing. That kicks ass.

When I'm using Windows (design & graphics), it's a 40/60 split between IE and Firefox.

When I'm using Linux (programming), it's 100% Firefox.

Add to that security, extremely high customisablity (you'll probably find a Firefox extension for anything you could wish for. One I really grew to love is FoxyTunes, which allows you to control your mp3-player from the browser) and and and. Regarding IE's GUI: you can even get a theme for Firefox that makes it look like IE...
