Video Card Drivers?

Hey all.
I just got a new monitor and video card the other day... Now, before I connected both, I had 0 trouble. Just today, I put in the monitor(Sony SDM-S73) and video card(ATI Radeon 9600 (RV350)). I FIRST got all of the software off of the CD, which included programs to watch TV, change the size of the screen, etc. After that, I tried running Halo 1. I made sure that the graphics settings were up to the highest, which they were BEFORE I upgraded the video card. I tried running a game, and the graphics looked pretty bad, and eventually, the game crashed when it tried to start a new game.
I went to the ATI site, and got the driver from here: http://www.atitech.com/support/drivers/ ... ubmit.y=15
I got the second one under high speed. It installed, and restarted my computer. It said there was some error opening cli.exe or some such. I tried running Halo, and it gave me an error about DirectDraw being disabled and that I should run dxdiag.exe or something. I ran the driver install again, and it said it would run tests after the computer rebooted. I rebooted, got the same error with cli.exe, tried running Halo, and it ran, with the same results as my first attempt, crashing when opening a new game...
So, any thoughts on what could possibly be the problem?
