A really good PHP editor...

Syn text editor - which I'd recommend as a HUGE step forward from notepad: http://www.webattack.com/get/syn.shtml

Can search for text in folders (not just the current file), highlights php functions like IF/ELSE, shows you paired brackets (great for working out where those parse errors are coming from) and lots of other stuff.

Some of the screenies might put you off but it doesn't look as gaudy as that in my install. Get it.

This has been a fairly long running thread and mentions loads of editors and it is a question that comes up regularily. It would sort of be nice to see the same info slightly more structured so as to answer the 'what editor shall I use' but also the 'what editor shall I use on x platform' questions.
