An Interesting Question

OK completeley off the subject -

If you could design/redesign something - anything that would 'make the world a better place' what would you design/redesign - it could be anything from an ATM machine to a telephone or even something more complicated like the tube system(here in london) to make it more effective, or perhaps something to help blind people - the more substance an answer has the better for me - all ideas welcome.

Secondly If you could create a global facility over the internet that would not discriminate against groups of people what would you create it for? something that different people around the world could access and use over the internet, for example you could create virtual tours of your area and place the on the web for other people to view different people could submit thier own areas - this is a detailed example but it could be absolutely anything.

Ideas or suggestions welcome for both of the above??

In related news: member makes millions of devnetwork forum-goer's ideas. ;)

Haha, anywho, I can't really specify one thing I'd change, there are so many things that need reworking, I wouldn't know where to start.

implementing all the functions that aren't implemented on Windows version of PHP... so many of them exist inside the win32 libraries, they're just not in the "standard" library...

public schools. good god are they a mess.

the two biggest changes I would make would include:
  • schools would stop stressing academics so much over the many other aspects of life that influence success
  • the people who make the standards must first be able to pass their own tests and second must be experienced teachers, not politicians
Anyone else experienced this first hand?

Like I said in the beggining, half sarcasticly, it sounds like you don't "just want to know". If this was just a random topic that you were curious about, and thats it, sorry for saying anything :P

If not however.. erm.. ya.

I'd fix IE and make it standard compliant. Then I'd save the world.

I'll fix Bill Gates first of all so that he stops creating more bugs and
concentrates on creating programs that are bugs-free
and more secure.
