Recent virus activity through the roof!!!

Post by steedvlx »

Anybody have a clue as to why I am having to clean 10-50 copies of NETSKY and associated variants off of my servers every day for the last week? They are safely disabled at the time, but sheesh!

My usually quiet F-prot has had its hands full trying to cope with all the crap slinging my way lately. I was just wondering if it was some kind of a spawning season for these things or what.

BTW, what does it do anyway?

Just curious...

I'm probably the farthest thing from an expert on visuses, but ever since MSN beta my comp has been flourished with these weird little viruses.
Might be the cause?

Looks like M$ (and its products too) has soft corner for viruses, security threats, bugs etc., etc., etc.

I thought all this would be too obvious to mention :) All you can do is keep the virus scanner and firewall up to date and apply any fixes required...

I never use MSN or any other messaging software. I used the registry hack to disable it on my system.

But, the question is why recently has virus activity spiked so much? I used to go weeks without an alert of any kind. Now, they are daily.

I'm no expert. But, I am paranoid. Something is going on out of the ordinary.

Ahhh. That's right. I forgot about that. I forget about such things living in Asia.

I remember my first big virus scare as a network admin... The 'I LOVE YOU' virus. Ahhh, The memories.
