Study finds Windows more secure than Linux

I don't like the endless conversations about '*nix vs M$', but i felt that this could be of interest.

The setups were hypothetical, however. Both were in the most basic configuration, an approach that some in the audience suggested may tilt the results in favor of Windows, which comes with more features.
Ford said the idea was to represent what an average system administrator may do, as opposed to a "wizard" who could take extra steps to provide plenty of security on a Linux setup, for instance.
I wonder who funded their study?

the one guy was a linux enthusiast, the other a windows enthusiast. No commercial interests involved, afaik.

Imho the most secure OS is the one you know best.
Because you know where the weaknesses are.
I'm pretty sure that gnu/linux distributions that log you in as root per default will get gnu/linux a bad name too.

Hmmm. They found that Windows was more secure - but can they find their own backsides with both hands and a map?

.. red hats default setup has never been know to be very optimized for security in any way ..
It's porbably hard to measure, but set up two default systems, give experts 2 hours each to harden the system, then let a team of hackers attack them both and see which one they can do the most damaging intrusion to...
