On Windows XP Pro is there a way to make it so that if someone adjusts the speaker volume it only effects their account ? If not is there a way to disable access to that particular control panel (mmsys.cpl)?

I don't remember being able to set the volume system to be user specific, but you can disable the control panel. Easiest way, download TweakUI .. you can enable/disable control panels from within it pretty easy.

Edit: Damn feyd; you're crazy fast
I guess you can do this through the group policy editor. I'll play with it some more and if things work i'll edit this post so people will know how to do it.

What good is it to disable all that if someone can just press a button on the keyboard and adjust those settings? I assume this is because the keyboard driver runs with administrative privs? If so is there a way to disable buttons without installing the packaged keyboard software?

I've got a headset that has a little knob for adjusting volume. Instead of adjusting both the system volume and the headset volume I keep the system volume at max and then tweak my headset volume as needed. Sometimes I have other people get on my comp. I don't want them to be able to adjust the system volume.
Because I have a microsoft multimedia keyboard you can adjust the volume from there, so disabling access to the sound control panel does nothing. So now i'm trying to figure out how to disable those keys.
I've installed microsofts intellitype software but it won't let you disable those particular keys. Any suggests?

Thanks very much feyd, so so apreciated.
... I can't believe I didn't think of a login script that would set the volume to my level...
