MICROSOFT WORD is EVIL

Post by Ambush Commander »

EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL!

I remind myself that whenever I find that RTF has really bad support for tables. Remember that. REMEMBER THAT!

TXT - 117 bytes
RTF - 1.93 KB (that's ten times larger! Wow! I looked inside, and all that space was taken up by global information, like page color and size and fonts and stuff. So I guess 1 kb is tolerable, after all, it's not being multiplied later)
SXW - 5.49 KB: This is Open Office's own format. It's pretty big, but I'm okay with that too, considering a BLANK word file is 11.5 KB. (Yeah, that's pretty awful if you think about it)
DOC - 8 KB (made with OpenOffice)
DOC - 23.5 KB

EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL!

So now I'm using RTF. With Wordpad. Yupz.

you may want to research into how much data of other things besides your text is stored in the file.

But Word is Proprietary and Binary. Not a good combination. Not even the OpenOffice developers have got it right yet. But nevertheless, I shall research ho! And I'm pretty sure I'm not trying to boost my post count. Err... sorry if I was reviving old threads.
