Ongoing Projects - Why are we here?

Following on from the "introduce yourself" thread, how about a thread about what projects everyone is working on or has worked on? Why did we all come for help on this forum etc?

I have been trying to teach myself PHP since November 2004 and found a lot of help on here.

My aim is to get my motor-racing game up and running and I think I'm almost a third of the way there now.

If anyone is interested in more details or wants a look, go to my site at http://www.pit-stop.org and feel free to post on the forums.

Don't be too harsh yet though, it's still nowhere near finished!

What is everyone else doing?

Well, my main reason for joining these forums was to keep up on the security aspects of PHP and ensure my code is as solid as possible..
I have been using PHP for almost a year now, and it has already become my first choice when writing web applications over ASP[.Net]/JSP/CGI...

Although I have been learning more about ASP.Net recently, I still prefer PHP :D

My current project is just a personal one, I am making a Dynamic Page Engine -- kinda like a CMS -- that is modular and supports themes. I plan to use it mainly as a Framework when developing other web applications.

Unfortunately, my host is changing servers, so my entire site is down right now.. :(

I joined phpdn to get help while learning PHP, but the more I've gotten to know PHP and any other language discussed here, the more I try to help others. Nowadays, when I ask questions, they're mainly about advanced (imo, atleast ;) ) regexps and more advanced php questions, not many "why doesn't this code work?"-questions anymore :)

I've always coded PHP and other languages as a hobby, but I'm interested in working with it in the future, when I'm done with school (currently 16 years old). I'm currently working with my own CMS (includes templating-system and parser) and anything else popping up on my mind :)

I joined because I was trying to teach myself PHP and was running into lots of trouble and the nice people here have helped me out greatly. I still have many stupid questions sadly but I am learning! Plus this is a great place to get quick answers to a simple problem since everyone here is so active.

When I joined here I was as a complete noob.. still learning the fundamentals of html and css..
Now I consider myself well rounded in php.
There was no particular project that I required help on why I joined phpdn, except the quest for knowledge and becasue of how useful people are.

True, I was a total noob when i joined here but within a week my prior lang experiences helped me to get a firm grip on this lang. I came to seek some info/examples etc.. and the info i got here overwhelmed me. Really! :P

<testimonial>I joined because i had a crappy temp job where they gave me about an hour of work a day so I needed something else to do the rest of the day. Now I am a full time developer and I get to develop in PHP! Thanks, phpdn! </testimonial>
