I was trying to decide which of the two to learn, and I decided on php as it seems to have a better structure. Anyone know in what ways perl may be superior to php?

Better to ask that question in a PERL forum :p PHP is fine for webapplications but i don't like it very much for CLI or GUI applications...

Better to learn them both and then decide which one you like most. This way you'll know how to choose the right tool for the right job.

Perl has its uses, but if you cant to learn strictly web applications, PHP is the way to go
