A local radio station has asked me to add live audio streaming on their site. I've been looking for information but can only find advertisements for various products. Anyone have any experience or know where I could go to find more info about this?
Thanks!

Anyone have an idea of what kind of bandwidth/processing power would be needed to stream the media myself, instead of going through a service like shoutcast? I've seen several of these services which are $400-$600 a month where you basically upload your media to them and they stream it for your users. I'm not sure what software would be involved.

shoutcast is not a server, it is a protocol, and serversoftware used for broadcasting audio/music. (free)
it is free, however, do know that if you want decent quality let's say 128kbps, it quickly adds upp to a couple of Mbits/sec. And I wouldn't recommend you to host it on your own server if you are serious, it is prone to create skipping and problems. (eitherway you should by all means have a static IP)
you can likely set it up on any machine you like, regardless of specs.

jabbaonthedais be sure to sign an "I'm not liable" contract. FCC is a huge stickler on radio via the web and has shut down or scared enough radio stations to shut down their live feeds.
