semi-personal website of alistapart author waferbaby that's currently being rewritten in python. It's got the best profile system i've ever seen. For example, for making a list of your favorite things you'd do an amazon search from the site, pick the item you wanted, and from then on when someone viewed your profile it'd show a little thumbnail of the item with a link to amazon. I'll post a link if the guy ever finishes the redesign.

Well, it's just odd to post about a non-popular site and not give a clear explanation on why it's such a good site.
I mean, if I were to say I was waiting for google's new revision, people would be able to put in a word or two about it, but no one really knows about Waferboy, so.. yea. :)

I was hoping to get feedback from people who may have known about the site, therefore explaining what it was wasn't necessary.

I probably should've been a little clearer in the original post about my intentions, because they were exactly what you just said: to find out if anyone knew about waferbaby and was waiting for the new version.

Edit:

And if you continue posting like you've been you'll be up quite a bit too. Whether this means anything ...

Actually waferbaby is a very popular website... I knew of it before nigma mentioned it all though I had never really checked it out so I'm not 100% what sort of content it has... the author himself is pretty well known throughout the web development community... "a list apart". I'm quite surprised that so many people haven't heard of it even :?

Pimptastic: sorry for not being clear. Waferbaby's got a profile system *kinda* like that of hotmail or myspace (i hate making this analogy because myspace and hotmail suck both absolutely and in comparison). In this profile system users can specify their favorite books, movies, games, etc. Most of these lists make use of the web services that amazon provides. For example, if I add "Fight Club" to my list of favorite movies waferbaby gets info about that movie from amazon and places a small thumbnail of the movie in my profile. In addition to that, he's got a chart system setup so that you can see which items are most popular among the members; which, for example, will allow you to see what the "most favorite" movie is of waferbaby members.

Maybe this in and of itself isn't that cool, but when accompanied by the great UI and standards compliant design it kicks ass.
