Evil Walrus Resurrection?

Hey everyone-
As a lot of you have heard, evilwalrus.com went under this past May. From what I know, the site was still going strong until the domain name was allowed to expire and be picked up by a domain vulture. I co-founded the site with Andy back in 1999, and it sickens me to see a strong community go down to what appeared to me as flagrant indifference.
I've been trying to get in contact with Andy since the shutdown without any luck. I was, however, able to recover a site backup I had from 2001 that contained about 300 scripts, 1000 users and a decent looking design.
I haven't been involved with Evil Walrus since 2002, and don't know anything about what was going on before the shutdown. What I want to know is if there is still a community backing strong enough to justify the work it will take to rebuild wally. I'd love to hear input from those of you who were involved with the site, and those of you who used the site. Maybe there is a chance wally will moo again.
Thanks,
Aaron

As I mentioned in two other threads on the topic, I plan a spiritual successor to evilwalrus. I tried in vain to 'save the site' before it went down, and made clear my intentions then.
I asked for people to PM me if they were interested in working on the successor site, and I've received multiple. Its very clear to me that people are interested. I have a clear outline of my plan, a domain, hosting, and the start of several scripts that will power the site. It's going to be community focused in practically every sense.
If you'd like to contribute to the project, I'd love to have you.

Will do.
I'm fairly swamped with projects for the next 2-3 weeks, but after that I plan on focusing on the project. Several members have said the same thing, and I remember the community at evilwalrus very well - active and loyal.
To clarify a point that was confusing, my plan is to
restart evilwalrus, as it was, but on another domain. I would have preferred to use the original domain, or a variant, but with the SEO squatting on it, he could use trademark claims to threaten the site. (Or someone else could!)
So, we'll be on a different URL, but thats pretty much the only difference we want to have at launch. We'll be using the evilwalrus design, layout, and so on.
Once the site launches, we can build out and improve from there. The key goal is to get a replacement up ASAP, so that people don't keep going to the SEO page. I want users to have the resources they had for years.
If anyone has site backups from EvilWalrus,
please contact me and send me what you can. I plan to do everything I can to be true to the original.
(Although no one can truly ever again be the Walrus, we'll do our best to live up to his blubbery name!)

Sorry folks, been working nonstop lately, haven't had time to get around to doing anything about the site.
Anythow, i'll try and get on the server (on my nifty 56k dialup) and get the site all packaged up, and posted for a select few to have.
Enygma: If you could, for me, please zip up the entire evilwalrus.com directory, and databases (if possible) and post them in a secure area for those of us to work on. It's nearly impossible for me to do on the connection i have, so, i need an outside source.
I'll try and get back on here again to post some more news, but like i said, i've been terribly busy.

We understand. Just glad we have a chance to bring the site back!
