Advertising?

Post by cbrian »

I'm interested in making money from advertisements on my text-based game site...does anyone know some good sites like that? Either pay-per-click or pay-per-impression? I checked on google, but they seemed to need my phone, and I don't want to give that out, and the other ones weren't very good.

I've used Google GASense for quite some time and they've never contacted me except for via mail. Any legitimate program will require your SSN# for tax information.

Tax information? Social security number? I have no idea what my SSN is, and I think I'm too young to pay taxes.

Any company paying you money is 'A' an expense for them and 'B' income for you. In the USA you are required to report any income you make. (I'm not a CPA but when I actually think it starts at 3k)

Think of it like this...

I'm company A and I'm paying you to put ads on your site.

I gross $1,000,000 and pay you $10,000 roughly 1% of my gross. When I file for taxes I need to account for that 1% and that’s where you come in. I have to tell the IRS that I paid you the 10k and the IRS turns around and makes sure you reported it.

If you are too young, then your parents actually have to claim your income as their income. And based off of your no phone comment, I bet your parents don't know about your click-to-make-money plan :) :) :)

It sucks, but wait until your paying 30%+ to Uncle Sam :)

promotion of your site

Post by thedamo »

Hi there,

You are interested in promoting your site? Correct me if I am wrong, but I think there is one extra thing your could do to get your domain higher in the search engine rankings, that is to add your domain to your forum posts. I noticed that you don't have a 'www' link at the bottom of any of your posts. I believe the secret to higher rankings is to include links to your domain in as many places as possible :)

Its only a small thing, but it may end up moving you one or two notches towards the top of search listings.

Thats my thoughts anyway :)

Why don't you have a link then?
