streaming video files from ftp

streaming video files from ftp

ok i have this ftp with like a gagillian video files on it. i know there is a way to be able to stream directly from the ftp. i know mplayer can do it but when i try to run mplayer win32 version it starts a dos prompt then the dos window just closes for no reason. anyone know of any other good programs that i might be able to use?

I think it depends on the format/codec you are using.. Anyway, i'm a fan of http://www.videolan.org/vlc (I like the fact i can simply "play" a .bin or .iso file... without the need to burn it on a dvd first (or emulate it)
