In case anyone is wondering you can join MSDN and get a copy here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/ie7/default.mspx
I'll maybe give it a testing later

- Let's hope it lives up to the *standards*

Does it fix the xhtml served properly (as xhtml+xml) problem?
Demo/test page:
http://www.spartanicus.utvinternet.ie/demo.xhtml
On IE6, that pops up a prompt asking if you'd like to save it. The proper behavior is to parse it.
I'd love to know if that was fixed.

ARGH! Microsoft, you bastage!
They better.. its been killing xhtml for 4 years.. They are the only one b0rking that, and they totally know about it. Seems like such a simple fix..

Doesn't seem too surprising.... I'm expecting mainly a chrome overhaul, adding tabs, etc but little progress in the standard compliance/rendering side of things...

They know about so many problems... To me it appears they simply refuse to fix it... Well, bad luck for them (and their users) because i've stopped caring about their b0rken products.

Yeah, apparently the acid2 test results are still horribly bad.
Just a shame.. they talked a lot on the blog about standards improvements, but if they can't get xhtml+xml to parse.. they really aren't living up to the hype.

You summed it up nicely..
I'll be using it when I buy Vista later this year, but Firefox will still be my browser of choice.

I just got IE7 and it works for me. There is an upside (aside from all the downs), in that it handles CSS layouts far better than it used to. The drop-down menu now WORKS without any major overhauls to the CSS and without IE specific classes or any javascript. I have proved this as I just finished up analyzing the menu I just made in Firefox and IE7 and they both look the same
Hoorah for CSS based drop-down menus!

IE7 is pure crap. Looks like I'll still be doing Browser Conditionals for layouts. Way to go Microsoft!!
