Battlefield 2

Post by josh »

Anyone get a chance to play this yet? It's a really good game, I even ordered a new geforce 6800gt video card for it. I kind of suck (I got awarded the purple heart for dying too much) but if anyone here plays it I'd like to play a few rounds with you.

Edit: In case you haven't played it, don't bother googling for screenshots, they don't do it justice

I went to the store to grab it along with a new video card.

Unfortunately the $200 card I got was outdated (according to the box) because GeForce 5700+ where required (I had 5500).

Well I got Half-Life 2 instead and I downloaded the Demo of BF2 to see if it indeed wasn't compatible.

Turns out the demo runs fine and Half-Life 2 was the better game anyway.

BF2 has alot of potential, but im going to wait for the patches to fix it up a bit more before spending money on it. Counter-strike will work till then :)

indeed...I'm a counterstrike man and it's gonna be hard to peel my hands away from my keyboard and go out and buy a new game.

really looking forward to DOD source if it'd ever come out....

Counterstrike is cool, I just personally don't like it. I like games that are more like a real war (BF2).

Heh CS is just very great mod, 1.6 improved it overall quite a bit. I suggest a DevNet match - OOP'ers vs procedurals!

Yeah, don't get me wrong BF2 was an amazing experience because of how realistic the game was.

I remember one time I had an anti-tank RPG gun and blew up a jeep full of the enemy troops. I was feeling quite proud until I noticed sniper fire coming my way, I quickly run out of the open area into a safer area away from snipers but seconds later an enemy helicopter spots me and starts firing. I run towards backup and some empty vehicles so I can return fire and on my way to the vehicles an enemy jet drops bombs on my location and myself along with a few others were blown to bits.

Sounds like a bad experience but it was fun. Later in the game I actually piloted a jet and dropped a couple bombs of my own and took out a helicopter so they definately got theirs.

But personally, HL2 death match and CS: Source are more my style. :)

BF2 is a cool game, but I somehow get bored pretty easily...

I'll give it another go when the new patch comes out; I was told it fixed 120+ bugs :o

Another vote for CS here. BF2 is alright I suppose, it just seems a bit .. slow.

Play in a 64 person server, usually those aren't that slow.

Indeed.

It's very fast-paced compared to CS because you have multiple lives per round, as opposed to just 1 per round in CS.

And with all the vehicles and whatnot, it's very lively. A bit too lively if ya ask me! heh

i've got my hands on bf1942 during a lan party with my friends. i couldn't run it coz i needed the cd. (damn). but i did buy half life 2, which of course came along with cs:s. i never touched hl2 again after i started playing cs:s. but i'm pretty bad for the fact that i only play iceworld :P.

the darkside has consumed me.
