reminds me of the jiff versus ghiff pronounciation of GIF, but less religious in ending fight results :)

What really gets my goat is people talking about a database, and calling it a "SQL" database.

When I ask, "Do you mean Microsoft SQL?" (and they do), they look at me in disbelief that there are other SQL makers.

No, the database world is NOT only Microsoft.

My pet peeve is people who equate SQL with Relational.... SQL is such a flawed implementation of relational... even if its the best we have...

That's too cool - I live in Arkansas.

My - S - Q - L - although it drives me mad when my dad says Sequel (he doesn't use MySQL, but he does use other *SQL databases), and he always "corrects" me when I say My - S - Q - L. :)

As I once used to say when I was 13: LMFAO!

For me, it's My S-Q-L. How can you say "Sequel"? It's sort of... childish.

the pronunciation sounds like logical progression to me though..

Structured Query Language  S-Que-L  Se-Que-L  Sequel

Pronouncing it "Sequel" is similar to pronouncing "LOL" as "lawl".

My "Sequel" reminds me of "prequels" (and for some reason of Star Wars  ). Why would anyone want to talk about what comes after them? My sequel, my prequel, moo-dee-quel, qualalpoopeeequel. S Q L.

Back in ancient Rome no-one said Spequar for SPQR (and those that might have were crucified before they could say "By Jove").
