Opera has removed their ads! The fully featured opera is now available to download from opera.com without any ads or spyware!
Im going to stick to firefox, but i think some of you should try out opera, its a great browser. I think Opera was kind of forced into giving it away for free because of competition from mozilla. After all, not many people pay for a browser anymore

I wrote an application where I use xhtml to update a page. The page is controlled by sessions so I opened the same page in IE, FF and Opera to test it. The xhtml call was every 1.5 seconds.
I was amazed at Opera's performance in comparison to FF and IE.
I'm still sticking to FF I was just surprised at the speed
PS IE came in last

Did you mean AJAX (XmlHttpRequest)? xhtml is a markup language, it's unable to make any calls by itself.hawleyjr wrote:I wrote an application where I use xhtml to update a page. I'm a huge supporter and advocate for freedom software, so I will continue to use Firefox as my primary browser.Deemo wrote:Im going to stick to firefox, but i think some of you should try out opera, its a great browser.
However, by making Opera no-cost, they've made me willing to directly support their browser now.
By offering a no-cost, no-ads version of Opera, I don't mind running it, or recommending it to people as an alternative to Internet Explorer.
Previously, I would code to standards, and do my best to support IE and FF. Now, that list will include Opera, as well.
(And no, coding to standards does NOT remove the need to do per-browser testing and support, unfortunately)
I think it was a brave move, and for me at least, it removed the last major reason I had not to use it as a secondary browser.
