Remote desktop
ok i want to leave my labtop at home somtimes. but problem! AHHHHHHH! i goto work every day and if i don't have my mp3's then i will definatly have to be stupid drunk to stand my idiot coworkers, but in the end i just really need my mp3s. what would be the best "remote desktop" kinda situation for me to use. i don't want to setup a ftp or anything cause it would be difficult to stream everything and putting all my music on my work computer is out of the question. right now i just bring my labtop into work and just use windows networking to play the music on my work comp but i really need to just leave my labtop at home some days. sugestions......GO

Why use remote desktop if it's for music? Does RDesktop actually send audio data? (Maybe it does?)
You need a "reasonable" connection to get good performace with ICA/RDP/VNC clients, although RDP/ICA (Citrix etc) use slightly less bandwidth. By reasonable I mean you'll need a good upload speed. I also used to connect to my Windows box from work and I only had 125Kbit upload on my ADSL modem which made it very slow at more than 256 colors. I didn't send audio though.
I'd suggest just putting your MP3's in a web folder on your PC (Password protected in some form to avoid getting into trouble). Internet explorer at least will try to stream the MP3 in WMP if there's a good enough connection I think, otherwise you could point XMMS to the URL to play it streaming
EDIT | Ermm XMMS is linux sorry... I meant Winamp
