It's being discussed amongst the moderators.

An old thread might have passsed its sell-by date or it might still be of interest. I don't know if there are any hard and fast rules about what is or isn't still relevant and probably different moderators will call it differently.

if the topic is still relevant, and the post is non-trivial, then i think it should be ok to revive the thread

I think if it was a technical issue, and not a general discussion item (especially about a timeless movie!), that would be a very different issue - possibly one that would be far more clear-cut.

That's why it's more sensible to make a new thread and to maybe reference the old one if someone wanted to see opinions from people who no longer are able to discuss it, because of course, they are no longer active.

A thread where all responders are active members seems much better for the discussion of a topic, if that's truely the purpose of bringing it up, rather than having an ~80%+ inactivity rate among conversation participants.
