New Developer

I am a new developer getting into PHP. Can anyone give me advice on what book is good and if there is a application to code in? Thank you.

it's not a book, but an online manual. http://www.php.net
download their manual, or print it out ( if you have about 1800 pages and a laser printer you can access lol .. )

other then that, dunno. only used the manual on their website truthfully.

I like the WROX series of books, but that is only my opinion. :)
but that is just to get started otherwise php.net is the place for more information then you can probably safely handle without damaging precious brain matter.

deffinetly get your hands on a reference book. i currently own "PHP Functions - Essential Reference" (pub. New Riders) and it helps with about 95% of the function syntax problems i run into. my only grip about the book is that it dosen't have everything. thats when i turn to php.net.

Try Black Book series, there are really good, also PHP Bible are also quite good.
