Hero (one of the greatest movies ever made)
The Downfall (brilliant German movie about the last days of Hitler in the Fuehrerbunker)
Open Range (one of the greatest modern Westerns)
The Godfather Triology (no need to comment)
The Edukators (funny and pensive movie about ideals and a weird meeting of generations in Germany)
Finding Nemo (ah, what characters!)
Out of Sight (great and shot before J-Lo sold out - very smooth and cool)
Kurosawa (The Seven Samurai, Jojimbo etc.)
Last of the Mohicans (heroic and sweeping epic, nice winter-viewing)
Touching the Void (totally gripping mountaineering film - unbelievable if it weren't true)
Heat (Al Pacino and Robert De Niro together again)
The Insider (remarkable story developments and great performance)
Tears of the Sun (take away the stereotyping and it's still a good movie)
High Noon (Western classic)
Rob Roy (best sword-duel ever committed to a camera)
Oh Brother, where art thou? (weird and wonderful adaptation of Homer's Odyssee if ever there was one)

forgot to add one really nice one
The Passenger (a.k.a. Profession Reporter) - brilliant movie with a young Jack Nicholson. Very much an arthouse movie without the ethics and artsy-fartsy do.

Top Secret
Kung Fu Hustle
Star Trek - First Contact (all of the other TNG's sucked ass)
