so my former boss

Post by shiznatix »

so i get in a huge fight with my boss. he does not pay me half of what i should be getting paid. heres the math

1 page of content = 2 dollars
i get 600 dollars a month
he wants 25 pages a day
20 days a month (roughly) * 25 pages a day * 2 = 1000

WHAT! i know for a fact he is given 2 dollars a page JUST TO PAY the person who does it (ie ME) but instead he keeps the most and gives me the remainder. WHAT! so im like ahhh and hes like ahhh so when i go behind his back he thinks i am screwing him. please. so he gets all <span style='color:blue' title='I'm naughty, are you naughty?'>smurf</span> and i quit. then the scripts that i had written for him he decides he does not want to give back to me (they are mine, they where agreed to still be mine for future job applications). well thankfully i tricked him a bit and got access to the files and copied them to my HDD. now he is trying to convince me i am still under contract for bug fixes for this client that i was supposed to be done with 3 months ago. yes, ill get right on that sir? wow people, please. between this and that fight i posted i don't know what i can think of humanity anymore.

god i LOVE people

Whoops.

The rights to the code is a tricky territory in these situations. You'd have to read your contract on that one but if he's not paid you then he's technically already breached the contract, thus invalidating it.

Bug fixes... Hmm... yeah I'd tell em to go swivel.

no paper contract was made. he said he would give me 4000 EEK more for the bug fixes. he retracts that and now says that he will only give me 500 EEK. nothing tricky about it, just complete anger of the greed of some people.

getting 50% or more (you're getting 60%) of what your controlling consulting company gets for your services is quite a bit.. 50% is the most I've ever gotten when working through a consulting company. I've had many friends only get 19% or worse of the consulting fee..

although you're not in the US anymore, there are states where, even if the contract states you don't own the code after writing it, they by law, say you still do own it (California is one, duh)

So the local laws may be on your side too, although I'm not familiar with copyright and ownership laws much outside the areas I've lived.. :?

Depends upon the content. If you want to consider each version of a dynamic page as individual then yes.... but I'd guess it's 25 dynamic pages.

EDIT | Whoooaaa.... In a day. Oh yeah I see :P

Here's your 5000 EEKs :)

Code: Select all

foreach (range(1, 5000) as $eek)
 echo "EEEEEEEEEEEK!<br />\r\n";

25 pages a day at 2 dollars a page with 20 working days a week = $1000 converted into EEK = 12000eek

12000eek is AMAZING for a college student for 1 month in Tallinn. you have to understand that things here are ultra cheap. ie a pack of smokes costs max 2 USD, compair that to the USA which is almost 6 dollars a pack. my rent is only 1600 for rent/utilities/internet a month so i would have had a whole lot of money but instead i got screwed over.
