Awesome. They must have just taken their new site layout and design live just as I was browsing through projects :) A nice surprise.. Pretty cool layout. much nicer than the old one..

Although I *do* kind of miss the plain old black-n-white :)

Yes that is an improvement :D

I'm glad it's not *drastically* different.... it feels the same to me but just looks a lot better.

Slow.

Non-compliant HTML - no wait, worse, non-compliant XHTML!

Non-compliant CSS

Admittedly, the color scheme is nice.

they went from steel-gray to steel-blue-gray.

nice to see they spent some time though enhancing it. The old sucked (IMHO).

Am I the only one who finds SourceForge.net loads unbearably slowly?

actually the more I look around the less I like it; they've moved more "chrome" into the main displays. the "information content area" feels shrunk, even though they gained width by the absense of the side menu bar.

I think I really dislike the movement of those bottom four elements into the main paine.

I was about to post the same thing.

Nice new look, but it shouldn't come at the cost of decent page loading times.

SF has always been unbearable slow for me.
Ever since i first starting going there 2 years ago.

I actually hate going to SF for any purpose
because it makes my broadband cry and feel bad :P

According to Web Page Speed Report by WebSiteOptimization.com, the SF index page takes 25 seconds to load on a 56K modem... 8 on ISDN (128K).

*shudders*

I could pee in the time it takes for the site to load for me, but it's still a good resource of open source stuff. I do think it's a might bit easier on the eyes than the old site though, that layout just sucked.

it is indeed awesome, and I would be more active there with my current
project if it weren't for the speed issue.

No, they went from *urine yellow* on steel gray to *dark crimson* on steel-blue-gray.

An improvement, at least in my eyes.

But the page time.. it has *never* been this slow.

That's a normal situation there anymore. Though their switch from MySql 3 to MySql 4 for their project websites was a definate improvement for anyone using sourceforge to host their home pages.

I keep hoping they will eventually increase their performance. It is really a pain at times to manage your projects because of the speed. One of the other slowdowns are the large number of ad servers each page connects.
