Personal Firewall.. my question to you..

Post by seodevhead »

My internet connection is from a wireless router. I use WEP encryption and I was told that wireless routers don't like software firewalls. My question is, is it okay to run my Norton Personal Firewall? What do you think? Is there another personal firewall your recommend more? Thanks.

I'm not totally certain about this, but Norton should work fine on a WEP enabled wireless access point. The firewall should act as a virus preventer while the WEP prevents other devices from connecting to your network without authentication. Once you are connected to your access point (after you enter you WEP key on your wireless device) you are an open connection to the internet as though you were wired to it. So I would guess that you would want your firewall installed to prevent malicious activity on your Internet machine.
