Portal or no portal?

Post by JAM »

When you devnet, how do you get here, ie. what do you have bookmarked?
By using the portal ( http://forums.devnetwork.net/ ) or the forum directly ( index.php ).

There are issues regarding the portal version and we are not certain weither it should be fixed or simply removed. You decide.

I have two bookmarks:
search.php?search_id=newposts
and
search.php?search_id=egosearch

I don't use portal at all, and seldom use forums index

I guess that URL would be classified as the portal since it forwards to it.

Please don't remove the portal!

I find the recent posts box really useful, (I don't have enough time to browse all the individual forums).

Maybe we could just put that bit on its own somewhere else...assuming that isn't the area you're having problems with. :?:

Then you may find this search.php?search_id=newposts link useful

Silly me, I was using that only yesterday as well! But If I logout (by accident due to network issues, or by closing the wrong browser window) without having gone through them all, and then immediately log back in again I only get the posts since I last visited - only 1 or 2). I like having the 20 or so most recent, regardless of when I last logged in.

I don't have it bookmarked. I only type the URL in my address bar on rare occassions too. I pretty much just never close the browser window and never turn my PC off :)

But if we're voting to keep or get rid of the portal I say we could keep it ;) My $0.02

If this was a vote on "do we keep the portal or not" the I vote "we do".

But I don't use it, except for 'unanswered questions'.
