Does anyone subscribe to both of these? Is it worth it to subscribe to both? Or at all? Or do you prefer one over the other?
Just curious if anyone has opinions on these before I drop money on them...

I subscribe to the electronic version of PHP Architect. I like that magazine. It keeps you up to date on the all the latest PHP news as well as gives insightful coding hints. I would not recomend it for a beginner. Most of the articles are for advanced users. I've never read or subscribed to php mag.

I subscribe to both the print and PDF version of php|architect. I also write for them on occasion and they are the publisher of my book, so I am a little biased

I actually have your "Industrial Strength MVC" article sitting here.

It was the June 2003 sample article.

Just as well. I wouldn't consider myself a beginner ... though I'm not really "advanced" either. Good to know, though.

I bought 1 copy of a php magazine (not
the PHP Mag, though), but didn't find it that enlightning. Most of the stuff I need can be found on the web anyway. As regards abstraction, as far as I'm concerned, I don't need other people telling me how to apply it. I like to keep my brain about

. Dunno, maybe I'm just missing the point of programming magazines, but I find them thoroughly useless in general.

I have a print and PDF subscription to php|arch and what I find is that I usually wind up reading issues months in the past, because I'll remember an article on something I was going to try. I find it pretty valuable.

I think that php.net is the best resource as far as reference. I think DevNetwork Forums is the best resource for learning tips, tricks and best practices. And it's free!

PDF version of php|Architect I subscribe to. It's a nice resource and they usually carry a few articles of interest each month. Maybe a newcomer would find it tough reading, but you'll never learn without a little legwork. Anyone subscribe to PHP Magazine?

Hey man! Long time no see.
Regarding the topic, I have read a few issues of PHP|arch and I think it's a great magazine. I've yet to get my hands on PHP Mag, but eventually I do want to have a subscription to both.

The comapany I work for subscribes to both but I haven't really had a chance to look at both and compare them to see which I think is better.
Both come as pdf's and since I have a longish comute I would prefer them in document form.
When I get the chance I will let you know my thoughts on which is the better mag.
On a complete side note the plush man is back. Long time no post, good to see you back.

If only someone would invent a machine to take some content on the screen and echo it on to paper.

Doubles side it, maybe squish 2 pages to 1 and carry a magnifying glass with you
