Im about ready to start applying for colleges soon. Im an experienced graphics designer for the web, and have an intermediate to advanced knowledge of php. My question is what kind of opertunities are available to me if I would persue webdesign and php as a carrer. Where might I end up working? What colleges are good? How much can I make?
This is mainly directed to some of the people here that have already been through this.

I think you would be better off to say "Programming" as a carrer. The more languages you know, the better off you'll be. Additionally, learn some SQL, hardware, and networking. Then you'll be worth even more.

deffinetly get a broad programming base ranging from C like languages to VB and everything else. i find with my broad base i can look at almost any source code/script and decipher its meaning, regardless of the actual language. <-- very handy skill.

Good stuff. I didn't know a thing about routers and didn't care to learn until I got the job I have now. One day they looked at me and said do it! The basics of it aren't that bad at all, and since I had done so much wth our firewalls and port forwarding, not to mention our cluster managers, it really wasn't that tough to begin to understand the basics.
Of course, that's just the basics.
But that's good to hear. Perhaps I'll throw a question or two at ya' some time.
