Anyone own a Sony Vaio

Post by JayBird »

If anyone owns a Sony Vaio, please let me know.

I have a question about some Sony software that comes on the recovery disc.

It is the litle piece of software that makes the hotkeys work.

PM me or reply here.

Thanks

My parents have a Vaio desktop that I helped to setup. What's the issue you're having?

Can you look in

C:\Program Files\Sony\

and see if there is a folder called "Hotkey Utility"

or search the Hard Drive for a file called

HKServ.exe

Thanks

Well, i deleted the recovery partition becuae it was taking up 7 gig (even tho i have 100gig).

...and wanted to get rid of all the other crap sony pre-install.

I downloaded all the drivers and eveything from the sony site and everything is functioning apart from the functions keys to adjust volume, lcd brightness etc etc

The Hotkeys Utility is NOT available for download from sony.

I managed to find a download from the sony japan site, but they didnt work :(

It aint a major problem, but wold like to get them working

I'm not sure which one exactly, but check out this ftp folder for the install file: ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/Vaio/hotkey/

It's the Sony Europe Support public ftp site.

Dammit!

If anyone has a Sony Vaio laptop can you do me a favour and have a look in the following directory...

c:\program files\common files\sony shared\

...and see if you have a file called snyutils.dll

I need this file.

Thanks
