FF Themes (packaging?)

Post by Ree »

I've got a weird problem with FF theme packaging. Here's the thing: I installed a theme (.jar) and it worked just fine. However, I wanted to edit some png files inside, so I unpacked the .jar, edited the stuff and repacked it back into a .jar. I used Winace to do this. Now the problem is, that FF doesn't recognize the theme anymore. I thought what the hell and simply unpacked the original downloaded theme and repacked it again without changing any files. Guess what, FF doesn't recognize it as well, even though all the original files are there. When I put back the original downloaded .jar, it works well. The filename of the jar is correct, I did check it.

Any ideas why this happens?

Btw, I'm on XP Pro SP2.

I once knew a chinese girl that experienced similar problems with a java archive (jar). After a couple of hours we figured out it was because winzip did some UTF8 magic.. Meaby you are experiencing the same? (Might want to check if FF doesn't have a checksum of your jar somewhere to verify package integrity too...)
