I really like rss feeds at a blog.. That way i only have to browse overthere if something has changed...

Couldn't find one at Roja's blog. Just took the time to look at the html source, because firefox indicated there was a feed.. http://www.kabal-invasion.com/bugjuice/atom.xml :)

I don't have a blog, though I was thinking of setting something in a blog format with tutorials etc. I'd like to do something like walkthrough the design of an application in public in a tutorial style too, where on a weekly basis I add the next article and code/theory etc. Should be interesting. I installed wordpress but haven't got my act together and make a start yet

People with serious issues use Atom...;)

You can of course convert their blasphemy using:
http://www.2rss.com/atom2rss.php?atom=h ... e/atom.xml
...taking Roja as an example...;)

Is this turning into a blog publicity topic? :) Not that I mind...new blogs from PHP developers would be interesting to read.

You have that backwards. People using RSS have serious issues - namely, schizophrenia. Which RSS do you mean?

"There are 9 versions of RSS, all of which are incompatible with various other versions."

RSS isn't at all consistent. But I'll let Mark explain the incompatibilities and inconsistencies in mind-numbing detail. Or, you can read up on the measurably improved differences from RSS2.0 to Atom, by Tim Bray.

There is no consistent standard for RSS. There *is* one for Atom.

But thanks for the converter link, to help along the schizo's. :)

Mine's a photography(ish) blog.
I'm thinking of starting one for the development of my next online game, but I'm not so sure.

What was the last online game you did? I'm currently working on an open source game so the competition interests me...;)

Although I tend to agree (loosely) the fact stands that most of the attention is on RSS. I mean Serendipity doesn't even seem to support Atom feeds - I've no idea how prevalent that is but a google search (whose reliability may be questionable I know) shows the stats for a key search as:

"rss aggregator": 2,620,000
"atom aggregator": 109,000

In reality most people are going to favour RSS over Atom - its beaten Atom to the punch in penetration so far. Why should the situation changes when people are bombarded with RSS Aggregators and Atom to RSS converters?

Anyway, I want to plug my blog. Stop interrupting :) Its linked from my signature.

Edit | I should have specified Serendipity does not support fetching Atom feeds (it has no trouble publishing them).
