Hopefully we will stay out of the copyrights / licenses / etc debate...

Someone on a forum I visit used to have a weekly online radio set up with Windows Media Encoder. He stopped, I acquired a headset, and now I want to set one up.

Unfortunately, the two people I know who would bother listening to it (this is a just-for-fun thing) can't listen to it. The one can't get WMP to connect, the other has a weird problem where WMP causes the computer to freeze up.

Does anyone know of any simple, easy to use, free or relatively inexpensive software that will let me switch between my USB headset and my soundcard for input, and then live-encode it into MP3 or Ogg Vorbis?

I saw Shoutcast, of course, but as near as I can tell, that all comes from a Winamp playlist and thus I can't record stuff live with my headset.

- Nathaniel, who is incredibly sleep deprived and would appreciate even a "Google is your friend" with a link to the search with the answer to his problem

If i'm not mistaken both shoutcast and icecast also accept input from other audio devices (so it's not bound to mp3 alone). But i'm not sure if that is true for the windows version ;)
